Learning about Design Thinking

My Mission was to design something useful and meaningful for my partner Diana. we started  by gaining empathy and we each asked a series of question to each other. As the time of this entry is in the summer I wanted to ask questions about keeping cool at home so my questions were more about temperature comfort.

We created two problem statements:

1st iteration:

Diana needs a way to cool her room in the summer in a way that makes her feel comfortable without raising the electric bill.

2nd iteration:

Diana needs a way to control the temperature of her space in a way that makes her feel in control and informed.

there are major differences that I got from the second part of the interview. at first I thought that energy is a major concern when it comes to using the Air conditioner, but I soon found out that it is a concern but her needs were a way to cool her room to make sure her pet bull dog Bell would be comfortable during the summer time when she was away.

The purpose of this version of a portable air conditioner is that the vent hose would be integrated into the unit so it would minimize clutter and makes it easier to use. Diana emphasized that if it easy to use and set up it would be her ideal product. So my prototype would have an integrated hose, a connection to the internet to allow for remote temperature monitoring and over the internet (OIT) control. the window vent attachment could turn 90 degrees to accommodate vertical and horizontal window types.
